Foreseeing the demand for high-speed connectivity in homes and commercial buildings growing, BT invented Fibre-to-the-Home optic light transmission technology that changed the face of telecoms. To meet demand, BT needed a method to accelerate installation and make it easier to replace cables.
Almost 30 years ago, when designing the concept, BT partnered with John Guest to develop a range of compatible push-fit connectors that would make installations in tough and specialised conditions easy, quick and reliable, without the need for tools.
Today, JG fibre optic connectors are used worldwide by leading broadband providers including BT, Virgin and Sky. Indeed, the solution was so reliable that the Ministry of Defence also used them in their fleet of aircraft carriers and destroyers where fast communication is essential to rapid response.
Connecting with Speedfit Technology
Resisting extreme temperatures, John Guest’s connectors for the blown fibre sector make them ideal for this purpose. Most connectors facilitate blowing of fibres/cables in either directions and JG was the first one to offer a selection of gas block and water block connectors.
We have truly earned our reputation as the expert in designing blown fibre connectors, with many telecom providers consulting with us for bespoke solutions for their projects. Our range of blown fibre connectors are trusted all over the globe for both aerial and buried installations.
Statistics show more than 70% of domestic and commercial buildings in the UK, and over 800 million worldwide, have high-speed Internet connectivity. With no signs of this slowing, John Guest will continue to be right there, working with telecom service providers to keep you connected.
